The Answers Are Found There In

Life has questions, and the answers are found in something that is within your reach.

About two weeks ago, we were awakened at 4 am by a phone call from a dear friend announcing that his wife woke up having a hard time catching her breath, and then collapsed in full cardiac arrest. She was not known to have any heart problems; her life was taken far too early.

About two weeks ago, we were awakened at 4 am by a phone call from a dear friend announcing that his wife woke up having a hard time catching her breath, and then collapsed in full cardiac arrest. She was not known to have any heart problems; her life was taken far too early.

Last week, I received a phone call from a friend who shared with us that another long-time friend had passed. His death was celebrated with joy. He has been miserable since his wife’s death several years ago. Since her death, his health quickly declined.

Part of the aging process is seeing one’s circle of friends diminish.

This afternoon I spoke at the Upland Stake. The topic was, as always, the importance of daily scripture study and using the Gospel Library to enhance the daily study.

By this time, you may be wondering what is the point of this post.

Some of the most jarring events in our lives is the passing of the dear one, regardless, if it is expected or unexpected. One mourns; as time moves forward a sigh of resignation settles in, but there are those that can’t.

The answer to moving forward is the scriptures; this is the purpose of this post.

This afternoon, I shared this comment from Ezra Taft Benson, “We labor to get a higher percentage of our young men on missions. We strive to improve the numbers of those marrying in the temple. All of these are commendable efforts and important to the growth of the kingdom. But when individual members and families immerse themselves in the scriptures regularly and consistently, these other areas of activity will automatically come. Testimonies will increase. Commitment will be strengthened. Families will be fortified. Personal revelation will flow.”

Whatever you suffer in life, the scriptures heal, reveal, comfort, and answer heartfelt questions.

This post is a call. A call to encourage you to study the scriptures daily. To drink deeply and receive daily revelation.

President Nelson advised us that, “Daily immersion in the word of God is crucial for spiritual survival, especially in these days of increasing upheaval. As we feast on the words of Christ daily, the words of Christ will tell us how to respond to difficulties we never thought we would face.”

If you are not already studying the scriptures daily, I encourage starting and watch how your life will change.
