There Is No Place Like Home

The Home section of the Gospel Library provides quick links to common resources in the Gospel Library, and it is customizable, which is the focus of this post.

Tap on the Home icon in the lower-left corner of the screen. Unless you have done some editing, the Home section will show the following:

  • Featured– a banner across the top announcing news about the church and upcoming events
  • Continued Reading– recent content you have read
  • Quick Links– quick access to various areas of the Gospel Library
  • Study Tools– tools used in studying the scriptures
  • Verse of the Day
  • Quote of the Day

There are two ways to edit the Home section. Scroll to the bottom of the section and tap on Edit Home, or tap on the three-dots in the upper-right corner, then tap on Edit Home.

Edit Home Screen

Apple

In Edit mode, you will see eight categories. They are:

  • Study Tools
  • Quick Links
  • Verse of the Day
  • Quote of the Day
  • Account
  • Featured
  • Study Plans

The screen is divided into two sections– Included items (those items that you want to use), and More Items (Those items you would like to add to Included items)

To remove an item from the Included Items, tap on the red circle. To add an item from the More Items to the Included Items, tap on the green circle.

In the Included Items section, there is a hamburger icon to the right of each item. Place your finger on the hamburger icon and slide the item up or down on the list.

When finished editing, tap on Done.

Android

In Edit mode, you will see a list of available items. To the left of each item are two horizontal lines. Place your finger on the lines to drag the item to your preferred position. To the right of each item are switches to turn on and off the item. When finished editing, tap on the Arrow in the upper-left corner.

Editing Categories

Apple

To edit a category in the Home section, tap on the three-dots above and to the right of the category. What appears next in the sub menu will depend on the category.

Continue Reading sub menu offers the following:

  • Item Count– how long a list from the History you want available
  • History– choose an item from the History list
  • Hide– hide the category. This places the item in the More Items section in the Edit Home screen.

Quick Links and Study Tools sub menus opens a screen that looks and works just like the Edit Home screen described above.

Verse and Quote of the Day opens a sub menu where you can set to be notified when the verse and quote become available.

All the sub menus offer the option to hide the category.

The Feature category cannot be edited, it can only be removed. To remove it, go to Home Edit screen.

Android

To edit a category, tap on the three-dots above and to the right of the item(s). What appears next in the sub menu will depend on the category.

Continue Reading sub menu offers the following:

  • History– choose an item from the History list
  • Item Count– how long a list from the History you want available
  • Hide– hide the category. This moves the item to Edit Home Screen.

The only option for most of the sub menus is Hide, For Verse and Quote of the Day, the options are Share, Notifications, and Hide.

As with Apple, the Feature category cannot be edited, it can only be removed. To remove it, go to Home Edit screen.

At this point, I suggest you have some fun and take a little time to play with the options and categories. Eventually, you will find the setup that works for you.
