New Gospel Library Features

The Gospel Library has recently been updated to version 5.12.0 and offers six new features. Five of the features are for the iPhone and iPad. One additional feature is only for the iPad.

Doctrine & Covenants Study Plan

A study plan can be created to aid with the current Come, Follow Me curriculum by tying together the manual outline and the sections of the Doctrine and Covenants being discussed for the week.

Come, Follow Me Study Plan

Study Plan Synchronization

In the past, creating a study plan on one device did not sync to your other devices; that has now been corrected. Your study plans are now backed up and sync with all of your other devices. Just make sure you are logged in to your Church Account on all of your devices.

Custom Collection Synchronization

The same problem with the syncing of the Study Plans existed with the Custom Collections. Now creating a Custom Collection on one device will sync with all of your other devices.

Reordering Tag Entries

You can now reorder the Tag entries the same way as you can with the Notebook entries. Tap on Edit, place your finger on the hamburger icon (3 horizontal lines) and move the entry to a new location.

Studying Other Languages

Those studying a new language or wanting to keep up their language skills in a second language now can quickly move between the languages.

First, go to the content you are studying, then open Settings/Language. Locate the second language and then do a long-press. You will then have the choice to “Open Language” or “Open New Screen.” If you “Open New Screen,” the content will open in the new language and be added to the Multi-Screen list enabling you to switch quickly between the two languages. You are not limited to two languages, so if you are multi-lingual, go for it.

English and Spanish

Split Screens for iPad

Having the option to use split screens with the Gospel Library has been on my wish list for some time. You can now view multiple screens side-by-side. For example, scripture on the left and a general conference talk on the right. Slide-over is also available, which allows you to open additional apps or content in a floating window.

To be able to use split-screens, you need to make sure to turn on the multitasking feature. Go to Settings > Home Screen & Dock > Multitasking.

You can open the second window using Bookmarks, Multi-screen, History, or open an app from the iOS search or Dock. Place your finger on the app or content and slide your finger to the left or right until the first window moves over, then drop the second window in the new space.

Another great feature is if splitting the screen between two different languages, both sides of the screen will scroll up or down together.

The Gospel Library developers continue to bring us more features to enhance our study of the gospel, and the latest update confirms that.
