Gospel Library, Goodnotes & The Apple Pencil
While this can’t be done with the native Gospel Library app, there is an alternative.
For this, to work you need the following additional apps –
- Genius Scan - the basic version is free
- GoodNotes - $7.99 one-time-fee
Here is how to use the Gospel Library, Genius Scan, and GoodNotes:
1. Open the Gospel Library and go to the scriptures you want to study
2. Turn the iPad to portrait mode
3. Scroll up or down, so the verses you want to markup are visible
4. Take a screenshot by swiping the Apple pencil diagonally out from the lower left-hand corner of the screen
5. Tap on Share
6. Find the Genius app and tap on it (this converts the screenshot to a PDF)
7. Tap on Share
8. Find the GoodNotes app and tap on it
9. Now, with the app in the GoodNotes you can write over, around and in verse, draw shapes and highlight
10. When finished tap on Share
11. Tap on Export This Page
12. Tap on PDF
13. In Options turn-on “Include Page Background” and “Include Annotation”
14. Tap on Export
15. Scoll down and find “Save to Files”
16. Save to a folder of your choice. I would recommend creating a “Gospel Library” folder and saving it there
17. Go to Files
18. Find the document you just saved
19. Press and hold on the document until a menu appears
20. Tap on Share
21. Scroll down and find “Share file in iCloud”
22. Tap on “Share Options”
23. Tap on “Anyone with the link” and “View only”
24. Tap on Share File
25. Tap on Copy Link icon
26. Tap on Copy Link in the upper right-hand corner
27. Go to the Gospel Library and the section of the verses you are studying. Select on of the verses and create a note then paste the link in the Note.
Next time you read the verse you can tap on the Note and then on the link to see your comments about the verse.
